Computer Science – Class XI

Learning Objectives

The objective of Computer Science in Class XI is to develop a stronger foundation in computer systems, networking, digital publishing, image editing, and web technologies. Students will study the structure and applications of computers, generations of computers, memory, input and output devices, software, and number systems. They will develop an understanding of computer networks, Internet technologies, data communication, transmission media, and network classifications. Students will be introduced to Desktop Publishing and learn how digital publications can be designed and formatted. They will also explore digital image editing and develop practical skills using image-editing tools and concepts such as bitmap and vector graphics, selections, layers, colours, shapes, cropping, and transformations. A major focus of the course is web development, where students will learn HTML and the fundamentals of JavaScript for creating interactive web pages and forms. The course also introduces students to sound and video editing and provides opportunities for practical and project-based learning.

By the end of Class XI, students should be able to:

• Explain the fundamental components and evolution of computers.

• Understand different types of computer networks and transmission media.

• Understand basic Internet and data-communication concepts.

• Create and format basic digital publications.

• Understand bitmap and vector graphics.

• Perform basic digital image-editing tasks.

• Create structured web pages using HTML.

• Add interactivity to web pages using JavaScript.

• Understand basic concepts of sound and video editing.

• Apply their knowledge through practical activities and projects.
